Chocolate Upside Down Cake
| This one is a real treat when it comes out of the oven. When cooked the desert separates into a rich almost pudding like cake with this wounderfull creamy chocolate sauce underneath. You'll want to eat this one with a spoon! |

| Cake Ingredients: | Topping Ingredients: |
| 1 1/4 Cups flour | 2TBS cocoa |
| 3/4 Cup sugar | 1/2 Cup brown sugar |
| 2 tsp baking powder | 1/2 Cup granulated sugar |
| 1 tsp salt | 1 Cup boiling water |
| 1 sq (1 oz.) unsweetened chocolate | whipping cream (optional) |
| 2TBS butter | |
| 1/2 Cup milk | |
| 1 tsp vanilla | |
| 1/2 Cup nuts (optional) | |
PREPARATION:
| Sift flour with 3/4 cup of granulated sugar, baking powder and salt directly into a mixing bowl. |
| Melt chocolate and butter together in a double boiler.* |
| Add milk and vanilla to the melted chocolate. |
| Add all at once to the dry ingredients and stir together until thoroughly mixed. |
| Add nuts at this time if desired. |
| Turn the batter into a greased 8" round glass cake pan 3 - 4" deep. |
| To make the topping, combine the coca, brown sugar and granulated sugar and mix well. |
| Sprinkle the cocoa and sugar mixture over the batter. |
| Pour the 1 Cup of boiling water over the top and bake at once. |
| Bake at 350 for 45 - 50 minutes |
Serving Suggestions:
Serve warm with whipped cream &/or ice cream!

| *If you don't have a double boiler use two pots one larger to heat the water the other small enough to fit into the larger one to melt the chocolate. | |
