This entry in the 1992 ARRL SSB DX Contest was organized by Larry Pace (N7DD) and other members of the Southern Arizona DX Association. Members of El Club de Radioaficianados del Noroeste were our hosts at the home of Faustino Escolante, XE2FEF, the mayor of the city of Ciudad Obregón. |

| Under Larry's guidance, our group of operators (AA7NO, KF7AY, KF7NR, KG7IZ, KG7XC, N7BSA, N7DD and WØYOY) made 10,500 QSOs in the multi-multi category and ended up with the first place world score. |

| To everyone outside of México, this appeared to be a very unusual call sign. It often took quite a lot of explaining and generated a great deal of interest. On the air our call sign grew to include its own explanation: "This is X-ray Echo 21, no we don't have a suffix!" In spite of the extra time needed to explain ourselves, we still managed to keep the QSO rate at respectable levels. In spite of many loud Region 1 broadcast stations, the hard-working 40-meter crew managed to work 1,242 QSOs, the greatest number of 7 MHz contacts of any station in the contest. |

| After this experience I was hooked and could hardly wait to get going for the next major DX contest. Thanks Larry! |
