Wes Fredell, NCTMB
I am a graduate of the Therapeutic Massage Program at Indiana
University/Purdue University in Indianapolis. I went on to earn National Certification in Therapeutic
Massage and Bodywork [NCTMB] the next spring in April of 2002. I am currently in my second four year term of National
Certification. I have been a Professional Member of the Associated Bodywork and
Massage Professionals since 2001.
My journey toward the field of health and wellness began as a
nurse’s aide on the Cardiovascular Progressive Care Unit at Community
Hospital. During these two and one-half years, I cared for many people
with a wide range of health problems. It was during this time that I realized my life’s interest was in helping people
to stay well and consequently completed training in therapeutic massage. As a
natural outgrowth of these experiences, my passion and mission has been working with people with specific health challenges.
My experiential background includes work with individuals suffering from the effects of fibromyalgia, Systemic Lupus Erythematosis,
spinal cord injuries, TMJ, arthritis, migraines, neuropathic pain, diabetes, and malignancies. The work in the CPCU also opened
my heart to the many rewards of working with the geriatric individual, and as a result, I pursued advanced training in this
specialty from the Day-Break Institute; an organization dedicated to encouraging and teaching the skillful use of therapeutic
techniques for age related conditions. This protocol was developed by a gerentologist to maintain optimum
health and regain functioning in the geriatric client. I also worked in an 18
month study at the Veterans Administration
Medical Center in Indianapolis investigating the use of massage therapy in post-operative pain. During this time, I volunteered at the VAMC for one year as a massage therapist in the Palliative Care
Clinic in a holistic inter-disciplinary setting to alleviate pain and suffering. I have completed continuing education training
in the effect of Massage Therapy on Medications prescibed by health care professionals.
The purpose of my work is to bring a sense of well-being, wholeness
and improved function to each individual I work with through the use of hands-on therapeutic techniques. I passionately believe
in the benefits of bodywork and look forward to providing services that honor the physical needs, spirit, and beliefs of each
person who I encounter.
