SWEDISH MASSAGE
This is the basis for all western massage. It involves a combination of strokes which move stagnant bodily fluids, tonify
the tissues, and facilitate improved range of motion. It is the most common bodywork for general relaxation. There are a number
of variations of this modality, including deep tissue massage, trigger point therapy, and sports massage.
ACUPRESSURE
This technique of Chinese origin promotes a balance of the energy forces of the body using the Meridian System. Specific
pressure points are stimulated on the surface of the skin to produce a desired outcome of a bodily function.
REFLEXOLOGY
This form of massage focuses on the feet and utilizes a "zone system" in which stimulation applied to certain
areas of the feet and hands correspond to specific systems of the body. This modality also has roots in the Chinese Meridian
system.
GERIATRIC MASSAGE
A unique protocol that was created by a gerentologist to address the health issues related to aging,
and to facilitate more efficient bodily functions in the elderly population. Components of this modality are also useful
in addressing symptoms found in younger age groups.
AROMATHERAPY
The use of essential oils as therapeutic agents are only now being fully realized in this culture.
Each botanical has distinct properties that are used to promote specific responses. Clients must always express any
known sensitivities to prevent reactions.
