Started in 1997, Jeanne's Great Game Links is a fan site dedicated to adventure and role playing games for Windows and MS-DOS. It is a collection of links for games that have been played as well as for upcoming games still in development. There are additional pages for favorite gaming websites that include reviews, walkthroughs, downloads and other information.
JGGL.net catalogs games that Jeanne has played (or might want to play) and does not attempt to include every game made.
Jeanne's Early Gaming History
Jeanne's passion for video games began over 20 years ago before the age of the personal computer with The Legend of Zelda played in about 1985 on the original Nintendo Entertainment System. Then she bought her very first computer, a Tandy 1000SX with dual 5.25" floppy drives (no hard drive), in about 1990 and discovered BBS free games (using a very slow dial-up modem), and played Alley Cat, Frac, and Bert & the Snake and many others.
She learned about Sierra, a fairly new company making so-called "adventure" games which sounded very interesting. She bought several from them which got her hooked on that genre, including Leisure Suit Larry 1 and King's Quest 2. As the technology in games improved so did the need for updating computers. Her first 286 was built by Jeanne's young nephew, Richard, and with it she was able to play newer games. And .. updates to computers have been ongoing every 3 to 4 years since.
While waiting for Sierra's next adventure, Jeanne was introduced to Role Playing Games, mostly by borrowing disks from friends. Jeanne played all three the The Bard's Tale series, all of the Champions of Krynn games, several of the early Wizardrygames and, finally, Ultima 5 which she loved.
