Critical dates:
September 17, 2007: 50% refund on or before this date. No refund after.
October 20, 2007 (after this date call 816-756-2744 for instructions): All
manuscript submissions are due as early as possible to give the faculty time to read them before the conference. (See individual
faculty pages to determine what is due). You may submit your writing homework electronically using the link above, or you
may mail it to JWKC/F1rst Pages Conference, c/o Christine Taylor-Butler, Treasurer, 737 Manheim Road, Kansas City, MO 64109
Please read the faculty instructions. Do not send full manuscripts unless
asked to do so.
Registration information:
Full-day workshops include lunch.
We can not
take "walk in" registration. Advance registration is required.
No guests, visitors or "auditors" are allowed.
Participants
can only sign up for one Saturday workshop, since workshops are given at the same time.
Critique Nook sessions NOT are available only to those enrolled in Saturday
workshops.
Participants may sign up for both
a Saturday AND Sunday workshop if desired. Or a Critique Nook session and Sunday workshop.
Registration
is limited to approx. 15 students per instructor. Registrations will be taken in the order that payment is received (not
by postmark). Credit card payments are processed same day. Those registering on-line do not need to mail a separate registration
sheet.
We can not be responsible for registrations lost or delayed
in the mail. Do not send registrations via method that requires a signature. (Please use delivery confirmation if you need
proof of delivery).
Inappropriate
material:
JWKC and F1rst Pages reserve the right to reject manuscripts or topics that don't fit guidelines or stated faculty
preferences. Pitches at the end of the day will be conducted in front of faculty. Selections must be appropriate for a general
audience. Explicit content will NOT be allowed under any circumstances.
Conduct:
The purpose of this conference is to help writers hone their writing, revision and marketing skills and help them
make professiona connections. JWKC and F1rst Pages reserve the right to deny admission to anyone whose conduct is deemed
inappropriate.
Participation is limited to individuals over the
age of 18. Waivers may be granted under limited circumstances.
Admission:
Due to the limited space, no guests, visitors, unpaid family members or "auditors" will be allowed
in the facility.
Liability:
In the event of a cancellation, JWKC and F1rst Pages
is liable only for repayment of tuition paid. No other damages will apply.
