Iraq War Cost
Can the Iraqi people, our troops, the world, and the American people afford to
wait that long? Should we while murders and lies continue as the official
policies of the Bush White House in our names and with our tax dollars?

LITANY
AGAINST FEAR
"I
must not fear.
Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear.
I will permit it to pass over me and through me.
And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
Where the fear has gone there will be nothing.
Only I will remain."

"Why is abbreviated such a long word?"
I have been a teacher with the LAUSD
since 1981. Political Science and International Relations were my majors at the University of Southern California ,
class of '78, so I teach social
studies now.
Verdugo Hills
Senior High School Multimedia Communications Magnet is my current assignment.
I have my hands full
with Life Skills, and world and United States history courses. Other
schools I have worked at are James
Madison Junior (now Middle) High School , Walter
Reed Middle School , Gardena
Senior High School , and Ulysses S. Grant High
. One of my best colleagues and friends, Linda, has developed a
marvelous ballet folklorico
at Gardena.
You can see all that by going to my class web page, so see who I am now.....
"Most people are about as happy as they make up their
minds to be." --A. Lincoln
"Why doesn't glue stick to the inside of the
bottle?"
This is my third year in Sunland ,
an
inspiringly named, northern foothill district (Actually, Sunland-Tujunga) of the behemoth city of Los Angeles .
I was born in the Hollywood area and have grown up in and around it all my life. I
went to Thomas Starr King Jr. High and John Marshall High . As I said
earlier, USC is my alma mater.
I began teaching as a fluke. I couldn't hang
around waiting to pass the exam for the United States
Foreign Service --got close though, so I became an emergency credentialed
teacher. I enrolled initially in more college credit teaching courses than a sound
minded person has business taking, and achieved my full teaching credential in three
years--all while teaching full-time in the classroom. I had been studying for a
master's degree in TESL (Teaching of English to speakers of other languages) at the California State University, Dominguez Hills , since I
have transferred to Grant and now Verdugo, I will see about resuming my master's work at California State University, Northridge.
I am now more interested in developing a master's degree in educational
applications for information technology. There are
many possibilities that I may serve education in the future.
So here I am. I love traveling (even if
its just to the national park 'up the road'), scale modeling, computers and computer simulations,
studying history (for personal interest and professional growth), science
fiction and espionage literature. The Internet is the best tool for me. It has so much for my students to
use and learn with as well. I have provided some links to sites that I particularly
enjoy. You will really get a good idea about me from them.....

The
most interesting for my taste were Tom Clancy novels (I
really dislike every "Hollywood" production that claims his titles (but I do like

Actually, I grew up with lots of espionage; some
real, most not, and mostly on TV. Click on the links below to see more about these

help the
presently "illegal" aliens
who are the backbone of our thriving market economy (could you really live without
them?) Want
a responsible foreign policy that will help the globe's people, rather than drive them to
desperate acts or crush them for exerting a free will other than what the
current administration wants? Want
sustainable domestic progress and development that allows for respect of human and
environmental rights?

Disaster
Preparation:
One very important organization which I belonged to is the Burbank Community Disaster Volunteers . Go to
the page to see how community members are prepared to meet emergencies, by assisting their
neighbors and city services. I was part of their CERT (Community Emergency
Response Team) cadre. I really cannot stress how important it is to be
ready to keep the community calm and confident in an emergency. Look up
CERT or community assistance programs in your locale.
