| Monday July 5th, we headed south from Nanaimo, down through Dodd Narrows, a narrow passage between Vancouver, Mudge and Galiano Islands. The current was running south, in our direction of travel. Quite a rush being dragged through the opening and beyond, at +6.5 knots!!!
We checked-out Pirates Cove at low tide and found it too narrow and shallow for us to enter, so we continued south to Clam Bay on Thetis Island's east side. But moderate SE winds were expected that night (Wx forecasts on VHF radio), and over the next few days, so we went around the south end of the island, and up into the well-protected Telegraph Harbour, on the west side of the island. We anchored in 8' of water (low tide) in the back bay, and caught some rock crabs which tasted great, as we were real hungry for crab, at that point. Wednesday July 7th, we headed further south, down the east side of Salt Spring Island, to Ganges Harbour. |
