To understand profoundly through intuition or empathy.

This weblog is my online journal. You'll find my opinions on a variety of topics as well as links to other things on the web that I find interesting. When the spirit moves me, I may also include longer essays. Of note is that I will not necescarily spell correctly, use coreckt grammer or politikally korect points of view... this is an attempt at just leting flow ideas into an areana that mostly people I care about only know... Now, if I see my stuff being quoted elsewere.. then I will go GULP and perhaps put up a better disclaimer. My goal is to be genuine, sanguine, and a little obtuse at times.

The listings below are the archives, my web log is set to show 5 entries and then the rest go into archive by month. Enjoy, remember the only thing real in life is that we are born, we breath, we die. The rest is just a dream, don't take it all too seriously, making mistakes is like reprograming your EPROM chips (stays with you even after a reboot), learning by book is like loading knowledge into RAM... (easily forgotten. needs to be reloaded every time you reboot) ... um, he he, yeah, Carpe Diem................................................ yeah and some photo albums

the last three weekend projects
one weekend, this last one, I had the whole house work on this project. Berah was finishing up the electric for that wall, Keenan and Phalean were mowing and cleaning the front porch, then then also helped hold all the parts at the final assembly stage. I made the thing out of 3/4 ply (birch/maple) and used all thread and conduit as supports for the ends and Berah suggested making an X that is structural so you see the one in the middle.. it holds everything square. The rods on end adjust the footers up and down to push onthe floor ceiling and the footers on the two verticles adjust as well. I need to finish a few more braces and hook two L brackets to tie it to the wall, then urathane the thing up... it is the TicTacToe TV center  tic tac
                                             toe

The weekend prior, Phaelan was at a clinic her mom put on. This is PDM on Charlie, riding for Pam Goodrich, Olympic Equestrian/Coach. PDM has an excellent seat and hand position and that little 68 pound 6 year old, muscles and finesses that horse like a pro! She rides extremely well for her age. Her mom, her coach does a good job with kids and horses. This clinic with Pam... the rest of the girls that rode were all pre teen and young teens. trot on horse This is the whole crew.... jr young riders at pam clinic

and then prior... my housemate Berah is a good welder and he welded the bar from rear lower subframe to just below headtube gusset, the bar that goes right above the jug/carb ... it stiffens the frame up a bit. (a San Jose BMW part) zoom zoom It seems to lesson the twisting that occurs with the BMW shaft drive and applies the ponies to the tire to the ground... I still need to adjust timing and carbs since taking all the electronics like the HAL sensor off etc. Plus I still need to pull the jugs off just a wee bit so I can replace the push rod seals and then once together, adjust the valves. The bike/motor has not wanted to run over 3 digits... seems to cut out. So... some trouble shooting is requred to figure out what is causeing loss of spark at wide open. The machine should be good for 110 to 115. This is a fun daily runner project bike, but boy will it be nice to get a tighter ship. I would feel more comfortable putting PDM on a bike with better seat and set up .. this one has seen a low side and sign post and there is a mild twist inthe rear subframe/ saddle that I have not quite adjusted out. It is fine for my arse and multiple day long trips with tent but, hey, my kid is a different thing.

Projects, always something to do... like it is spring and the garden is calling for seeds and plants...

had a nice date with a sweet heart the other day and...

She indicated there was not 'that spark' ... I thought about it and determined I have given up on the special spark, the special spark makes great summer time lovers but... my take is that there are people with whom there are the Celestine moments with, more of an clarity with and then there are people whom are sincere, loving, and capable of having relationships with integrity and compassion and communication. Both are just as valid and in the long term... what I seek. As has been said, dancing can happen anytime any age... can't always ski or race motorcycles or rewire the electric and reroof the garage.

That special spark seems more pheromone driven, more bacchanalian in roots. It is an interesting question... what does one want in life in a partner? How many same activities are needed to be good? How many activities that are different are needed so each person has their own life? As I date folks that have tons of the same things in common and just a few things that are in common... I realize that the 'what is in common' question is a bit of an attachment to preconceived ideas about finding a someone whom may not exist. A person may come along and if my mind is focused on this particular shopping list of attributes... I would suspect I would miss that person; she would walk right on by. What a drag that could be eh?

But if I step back and look for attributes that are in nature, not as specific as 'riding a mountain bike around Walker Ranch Trails as fast as I' or 'can sport climb 5.10 and up' and look for attributes that are at the foundation level of a person's being... like 'communicates from the 'I' place and owns feelings' and 'laughs at life's triumphs and tragedies so as to have a lightness of being' and has 'a tenacity for trying new things and sticking it out when the going gets hard' then I think I could be more fruitful in locating a person with whom a long lasting friendship companionship and rewarding times can be with.

Cause you never know until you are there, where there is going to be.

a rainy Good Friday
B&WartNumber001        Sometimes, days are not so black and white. This morning started with a 0600 meeting with my business partner and so, by 1030 I was cooked... After lunch, since my housemate is off at training today, and his son is not in school.. he is here. 9 year old boys are so different from 6 year old girls! Which my PDM is. But, alas, the 9yrold was given the privlage of Nintendo 64 access for the day and after lunch... after I took him out in the rain to walk to the neighborhood coffee/magazine shop for coco and a latte for me, after we got back... we played Nintendo.... =^0  something I never did much as a kid, played video games or pc games or any of that... what a milk toast activity it is! HOLY FRIDAY BATMAN! My brain went into mush mode.... (note, edi brickel will be at the boulder theater the KUNC radio announcer just announced... hmmm that could be fun) and so, brain mush reactivation normally for me, entails, dorking with images... therefore and hencforth, i discovered the old art of reductionisim from my art school days where the copy machine was a hip tool to moniker montages and make them... like the above pixel picutre... ack.

Anyway and where fore, it is time to unplug and remodel the office space so all my documents, files, books and asortment of funky computing devices can be assembeld into a lab...

actually, I have this 486 I will load up with old linux... or BSD variant, and an old mmx pentium laptop that will get rebuilt and loaded only with the similar vintage copy of vb6 enterprise for win98 as that machine wont load well with much more then that... and getting everybody booted up and working, I can hack around with PERL and VB and configurations with the bounty of a nieghbor who works at Barnsandnoble books, he is bringing home a copy of linuxformat magazine that has a dvd with knoppix linux on a disc(bootable) that i heard about at www.linuxquestions.org .... so... yawn stretch and ack.... happy spring easter rainy weekend for an arid colorado.... kayak season soon!

non sequitur or grokking?
I was inspired to use the term, free flow into a IM reply to a pal that I was GROKKING about the web and came into the following quote by way of obtusely looking up a definition for GROK... and then NON SEQUITUR
======
"we do not learn for school, but for life"
[Seneca]
======

I kept globbing about from one idea thought thread to another and bumped into these listed maxims...

IV.  Maxims (wise sayings):
- Gnothi seauton (Know thyself).
- Arche proton mathon archesthai (Before you rule, learn to be ruled).
- Hegemona poiou (Make reason your guide).
- Ta spoudaia meleta (Pursue worthy aims).
- Me kakois homilei (Do not have conversation or contact with the wicked).
-Aequam memento rebus in arduis servare mentem (Remember, when life's path is steep, keep your mind even).
-Homo proponit, sed Deus disponit (Man proposes, God disposes).
-Non scholae sed vitae discimus (We do not learn for school, but for life).
-Respice post te, mortalem te esse memento (Look around you, remember you are mortal).
-Sapere aude! (Dare to be wise!).
======
Listening to Neal Stephenson's SNOWCRASH as I sip coffee words pop in and my pastime of definition lookup kicks in. www.m-w.com now charges for  definitions so I Google, fin a URL that I realize I can Qstring on the fly... so I key in http://dictionary.reference.com/search?r=2&q=non%20sequitur and curious about the pheonetics and cool text displayed in the pronunciation key I open a view of the source code and find www.lexico.com along with interesting stuff that indicates that the meta name keywords content is generated on the fly and that my search string, that I keyed into the url, has the non sequitur in it as does the page title (note to self look up that javascript later) and then on the bottom of the lexico page I see this quote  "Non scholae sed vitae discimus" and wonder who SENECA is cause I am thinking tribal americans, well google on this takes me to some fella un Australia who has Christian fellowship epiphanies and concurently blogs everything and runs with gang friends... interesting AND digging further back on google I find a usna.edu link with some nifty things I thought I would share. It is just odd to go from Australian/singapore gun toting reform christian to the united states navel academy in one search query based on nifty latin terms... who would have known
So therefore this should be the non sequitur
n 1: a reply that has no relevance to what preceded it 2: (logic) a conclusion that does not follow from the premises

and
I will need to spend more time on www.w3.org and troll the code and stuff. I do realize that most of this is generated on the fly from software bought for these purposes. But I really do not want
but of note is that NOW I am looking at this >> : War,
Aaron
: I am currently researching a paper that compares Yeshua (Jesus) with Nietzhe.. and in part to address this very question.
: I am not so sure that Nietzche is claiming that God is alive or dead... neccesarily.
: He is claiming and expressing that the power and dominane religion played in people's lives had come to a critical juncture. Being the 19th century the Age of Reason was high, esp in Germany.. (isn't it always in Germany..).
: Mr. Bachman ertion that people were to lazy to discover and search out solutions and issues on their own contains some merit but does not address the entire issue...
: Many individuals who did not believe in any kind of God/higherpower/absolute were led to this belief by their intense quest for answers in life.
: Also, so many of the greatest minds (and many of them not very lazy) were and are believers in some form of higher power, Descrates, Darwin, Aquinas, Einstein, Newton, etc. as well as many powerful social and political figures...
: Gandhi, Martin Luther King Jr, Desmond Tu-Tu, etc.
:
: I do not feel that the generalization of lazyiness is an aqeduate interpretation of Nietzche's statement or on the reasons for humanity having (perhaps needing) religion.
: Yeshua (Jesus), whom Nietzche commended and admired and proposed as a model for the superman theory, proposed in his teachings that importance of creativity, of pion, and clearly demonstrated the traits of individualism, personal power, etc that Nietzhce values so highly.
: Yeshua was also against strict legal mob thinking... and in most of his encounters with people he always encouraged them to think on their own... so many of the Yeshua Parables invovle individuals asking him for advice and he simply replies in essence "What do YOU think?"
: I may not return to this forum as I was simply surfing and it caught my attention, please e-mail me back responses, etc.
: Peace,
: Kevin
posted here (http://hatteraslight.com/navy/FrederichNietzschehall/cas/88.html)  which takes me to this whole massive site of literary threads (http://killdevilhill.com/literarychattalkcafe.html) and into this (http://nietzsche.thefreelibrary.com/) location that has the clearest notes on Nietzsche's thought but still... Kevin's notation to the idea that "that people were to lazy to discover and search out solutions and issues on their own" brings me to ponder... and I started by wondering about NON SEQUITUR ... how time flies...
I need lunch, and to do my taxes.. so ending this spiral complicatae nomina opportuna

sometimes logins, remebering em, just kills me... so I ....
See, the last post missed the piece about this source BLOG http://grumet.net/weblog/ by andrew grumet (what a last name... like wallace and grommet!) and there is really neat stuff I have been linking into via this guys page... then, as I went ot login to THIS account to add THIS blog, I swear at times it just spoofs me. I type all in slow and carefull and still I bounce.. so as my frustration mounted I did an old trick, make up an URL and type it in... so I type in http://www.gofuckyourself.com and low and behold I find this very odd chat board that appears, I think, to be a chat board for adult industry web designers and authers, as in the term 'fuck' is almost a relgous use as in every other fucking post is with the F word...... I just shook my skull. I mean, my frustration took me where? Pretty odd.

Really my frustration tonight was hinged around dealing with a six year old who , being tired, copped this instant WAAAAAAAAA when I said no to sometthing... it wook about 20 minutes to deal with that. What is this about is the challenge of being a parent and trying to make decisions about things with today, tomorrow and 3 and 9 years down the road. .... aka setting a precident for proper interactive behaviour.... it sure would be easier to just be like what most other parents seem to do... 'whatever' comments and escape the conflict.

Not I... (rolleyeshere) dealing with it, ups the apres frustration. intother terms, i feel like i just fought a troll and lost some points on my game board life and need to regenerate/heal... so... some quiet time needed and I try to go look up some RSS stuff and find..... gofuckyourself.com.... what is this world/web thing coming too? (shakingheadhere)

anywise i could ramble about so much today, and think i should just unplug and curl up in my corner bed with the cats...

some times lap tops track pads are a pain
I was not done with the last post and off my laptop went .... so to continue.

this is a paragraph from andrew...
Weblogs are everywhere. No longer the hideout of programmer nerds, weblog authors count among their ranks a Stanford law professor, a cast member of Star Trek: The Next Generation, a woman who works in the adult film industry, a popular humor columnist (who no doubt would be thrilled to appear in a list next to "a woman who works in the adult film industry").

ok... so i followed that link about the woman.. and she has some cool javascripts that I want to figure out, the code alows people to respond to a blog entry with a comments section. (try to not look at the content, it is part of 'that' industry that no one talks about with the politically correct crowd)

and finally ... some RSS about notes by wired.com that offer sources and feeds....

I will learn this stuff and get RSS feeds and ads by GOOGLE up on my other 'work' site. Value adds they are
