An in-flight magazine falls low on the list of airline diversions. So it wasn't until the big silver bird was on its return flight from Europe that Jim resorted to reading "Atlantica," Iceland Air's glossy publication. Wow. What a coincidence. A story on Paris.

Perhaps the best way for a first-time visitor to discover Paris. . .is to hop on board a river boat and travel the city via the Seine river.

   Departing on Halloween 2002, Claudia Daniels and Jim Thielman visited Scotland, London and Paris. Don't hesitate to read on.

Well, perhaps.

Or perhaps the best way to see Paris is by Metro, which is an underground train with views of concrete, beggar musicians and graffiti. (How did those kids pull off that spray painting in a narrow tunnel plumbed by speeding metal?)

Jim and Claudia knew, usually, there's no one best way to see a big city. They would certainly not have advised a single mode of travel for Paris.    PAGE 2 >>

Factoid:  Scotland's oldest university was founded in St. Andrews in 1413. In 1457 King James II banned golf there by act of the Scottish Parliament. It seems archery practice, which was a military necessity, was being neglected.
