New OMAG Film Contest Winner! || Deckard

Once again, we've culled the single best film from those of games we've played this past week.

This one comes from a game known to OMAG as "MM Bacon 9442." Played on Mudpit light, this bacon variant has one simple rule. All players must choose the same units. Namely:

  1. 9 Thrall
  2. 4 Wights
  3. 4 Dwarves
  4. and 2 Journeymen
  1. All goes well until the bacon...well, I'd rather not ruin the ending. Head on over to our Contest page and see for yourself.

Getting Things Ship-Shape|| Deckard

Updates have been sparse this past week. I know, and I apologize. But, trust me. Much has been going on behind the scenes. Most will go unnoticed (save by me whenever I open my hard-drive ;-), but here are a few of the visible changes:

Seeing as how the news page was getting a tad lengthy, I've started archiving it's contents. For similar reasons, I've also begun archiving our film contest pages. Look for links at the bottom of the Home and Contest pages for links to these archives.

Some of our visitors have complained about the Trailer not loading properly. I've checked, and rechecked to see if it works with both Netscape 4 and Explorer 4. As long as you have the Shockwave plugin, you're golden. As for questions about displaying the Shockwave menu, I've added directions in this regard to the Trailer page.

The tables on the Variants page were overlapping when viewed with Netscape. But no more.

These pages should be 99.9% bug-free. Let me know, however, if there are still glitches to be tracked down and snuffed-out.

And Then There Were 10 || Deckard

"His head reeling with thoughts too depraved to put in any sensible order, Raskolnikov peered down from his Spartan garret upon the dreary byways of bungie.net. 'BC, BC...so much violence,' he thought, repelled that his most frightening of urges could find such ready, pointless, exercise. 'Surely,' he spat, 'there must be men drawing blood with good cause somewhere in that rabble.' He drew the collar of his tattered jacket tighter around his throat, shut the window with a resolute clatter of glass, and retreated to the smoky comfort of the fire. 'Surely, somewhere.' And then, his eyes blurring into the hissing knot of coals, 'But how to find them?'"

--Fydor Dostoevsky, Crime and Punishment

OK, so I made that quote up. But, really, how else can you explain why our newest member, Raskolnikov, decided to join up with us crazy characters? Besides, now that we have a member with a name of serious literary heft, I though my prose should go a bit upscale ;-)

Welcome aboard, Ras.

First OMAG Film Contest Winner! || Deckard

I am also pleased to announce that, after months of grueling negotiations, OMAG has signed a contract with two of America's most renowned movie critics. Asking only for beernuts (which we have in abundance) as compensation, these two cinema luminaries will give each of our winning films a thorough review.

Head on over to our Contest page to see which film won and why.

A Moment For Us || Deckard

Someone sent me an e-mail last night in which he asked the following question (and here I'm quoting): "F**k, dude. Why do you wussies never play Body Count? You a bunch of loser girls."

While I'm a rather mild mannered guy, I have decided to step out of character and take issue with 3 points this fine young man brings to fore.

His point #1: "OMAG are all wussies..."

My Response: Oh, most certainly. I know for a fact that Lugnut wears sun dresses while playing, and Weasel has little rampant Unicorns all over his Mousepad. I myself am very adept at painting my toenails while gesture-clicking. That doesn't change the fact, however, that we will mash your mendicant innards deep into the turf of any netmap any day of the week. Just try us.

His point #2: "...because we won't play BC"

My Response: Can't joke about this one. Look--being adept at BC is not the pinnacle of manhood, my misguided fellow. Far from it. While it takes skill to be good at BC, I've found that the most skilled BC players play BC and only BC. I personally don't play BC in ranked rooms (unranked, I've played BC maybe 6 times since Myth was released simply to keep in practice for tourneys), therefore, because it atrophies skills rather than increasing them.

His point #3: "Girls are Losers"

My Response: I have one request for you and your offensive pals (that includes all the racists, homophobes, and their ilk skulking around the corners of bungie.net. ): Reach down, grab yourselves firmly by the arse and boot yourselves the heck off-line. Wait--better yet, take offense at my criticizing your offensiveness, join an OMAG game, and let us familiarize you with the feeling of a smarting backside. We wouldn't want you to hurt yourselves too much as you limp away.

Take issue with any of what I have written? Support it? Send me your responses.
