| milk | 1/3 c |
| egg | 1 medium |
| corn starch | 1 T |
| baking powder | 1 t |
| salt | 1/4 t or to taste |
| brandy | 1 T |
| vanilla extract | 1/4 t (optional) |
| white bread | 2 slices |
Add the egg to the milk and beat thoroughly. Add the corn starch, baking powder and salt and blend until they are dissolved. Stir the brandy and vanilla extract into the batter. The white bread should be either stale or lightly toasted. Soak each slice thoroughly in the batter and pan fry. Serve warm and covered with either powdered sugar, brown sugar, syrup or fruit and sour cream.
