44th Annual Moon Viewing

Michael McKenna Tea musiciansThe moon peaked  through the clouds at Otsukimi 2010 only briefly. This event took place at the Hammond Museum and Japanese Stroll Garden in North Salem, New York.  The event began at 6:30 pm on August 21th, when we enjoyed dinner bentos from Silk Garden Caterers.  At 7 pm a tea ceremony demonstration was given by Michael McKenna and Junko Nanahara.
Before the concert began at 8:30, attendees enjoyed the exhibitions at the Hammond Museum and a stroll through the Japanese Garden.  Six pieces were played by 2 koto, a shakuhachi, and 4 shamisen as described in the attached program:
