This page is about remodeling our new house

Autocad floor plan.

In April, Stacy and I signed 2 inches of paperwork that at long last set us free from yearly rent increases and landlords kicking us out when the housing market was good. The house is small (600 sq ft) with a big back yard and lots of pine needles in the front yard (no sprinklers -> no grass). The house is technically a two bedroom, 1 bath house but the second bedroom is too poorly designed for real use. This is the current floor plan:

Here are a few pictures of the exterior and land. As you can see it's a bit run down cosmetically - lucky for us it got a great review structurally.

This house will take a lot of work to be our dream house. But thanks to my upbringing I just can't be happy with a fully completed house. The house will probably be traded up long before all these things are completed. I consider it practice for the next house (as well as a good write off when we sell).

These pages are intended as a photo album with commentary. As a result there are a lot of small pictures on each page. I've taken pains to make the pages load as fast as possible.

A final note: To the best of our knowledge and research, all changes documented here are to code in Los Angeles City. Some of our methods are not the best, occasionally they may not be the safest. You are responsible for your own safety and Code-worthiness.
