The Colorado Rocky Mountains, with their ever changing skies, colors and conditions, awakened a creative need in Jennifer
Robb Hall when she was just a toddler. The tiny town where she lived, Central City, pulsed with creativity throughout history;
painters, sculptors, photographers, writers, architects, performers of opera and theatre all came to share in the riches of
the discovery of gold. While the gold mining became history, the town continued to attract talented souls. Certainly the
atmosphere of both the mountains and the people in her life influenced her decision to paint at a very early age.
It took several decades of exploration before Jennifer finally put brush to canvas. Landscape photography quenched her
creative thirst for many years. She also explored fiber arts, sculpting, china painting, jewelry
and building design, all in miniature, for many years. Finally, in 1995, at age 40, Jennifer bought her first canvas
and paints.
Beginning on full size canvases, she painted furiously, self instructing through every resource she could
find. Within a year Jennifer adapted her techniques to miniature, and soon was successfully submitting her
paintings to the juried miniature fine arts exhibitions across the United States. Since, her work has been honored with
numerous awards in various international shows. Several galleries in Colorado and New Mexico have also exhibited her work.
Jennifer's paintings and other miniature creations were featured in the March 2000, Miniature Collector Magazine .
The subjects Jennifer chooses to paint are either close to home or heart. Mountains, skies, bodies of water and marine
life catch her interest the most. Often, color will influence her inspirations more than the subject itself. Jennifer paints
from her life experiences and travels, providing continuous, and sometimes overwhelming inspiration.
Jennifer’s preferred mediums are oils and watercolors. The luminescent effect achieved with oils on Ivorine,
as the support, is always fascinating. Playing with texture and blending in watercolor on hot press paper present different
and exciting challenges. When the creative flurry of the painting is complete, then the creation of frames begins. Jennifer
designs and makes all of her own frames. A member of the Miniature Art Society of Florida, the World Federation of Miniaturists,
and the Miniature Painters, Sculptors and Gravers Society of Washington DC, the Cider Painters of America and the Association
of Miniature Artists, Jennifer continues her studies and explorations.
Jennifer still lives in Colorado with her husband of 32 years, and a menagerie of pets, painting full time.
Her personal interests include studying languages and indigenous cultures, landscape and macro photography
in 35 mm and digital formats, Apple computer technology, historical/architectural research, the culinary arts and working
with her special needs Boxer dogs.
