| I
recognize something essential in myself when I am painting.
Brushstroke, color, shape, rythym, and design all speak to me as I
work. Relationships of all kinds. Figure and Ground. Colors and Greys.
Brights and Darks. Luminosity and Opacity. I try to balance them,
confuse them, order and disorder them. These elements seem to come
together for a time, then dissipate, then recombine once more. It is a
true pleasure to be able to stay with a painting until an unusual
balancing of all elements occurs; alchemy of some kind. |
