Note to 1st-time visitors: Please scroll down to "Asatru Information," click on it, then scroll down to "The Norse Spiritual Experience" and links near it for some of the best material.
Please look at and consider joining my Heathen News list. Archives and links are public, but you must join in order to post. It's a way for you to get info on what's going on in Heathendom, forward it if you like, and post your own news!
A note on the animated Marmot/Woodchuck/Groundhog: my partner designed him, and since I think he's cute (the groundhog, I mean them both LOL), I put it on the page. Since my partner set the original pages up for me, I was glad to. Some folks like the Groundhog; others find it "hokey."
Well, "Jordsvin" was SUPPOSED to mean "Groundhog" anyway. Actually, it means "Aardvark" in Swedish, Danish AND Norwegian! http://www.jjphoto.dk/animal_archive/orycteropus_afer.htm Oh well, I'm sure that the Aardvark is one of the Vanir's (Norse Nature Deities) Beasties anyway!
Welcome to Jordsvin's Norse Heathen Pages, formerly the Hammerstead Kindred Web Page. This site contains information on Norse/Germanic pre-Christian Religion, Rune work (including Rune-of-the-Month, my online book on Runes), Seidhr (Norse "shamanism," very roughly speaking), the Hammerstead Kindred Blot Book (all these are linked from the Asatru Information page), and much more!
Jordsvin's statement of non-discrimination: I am neither racist, sexist nor homophobic. At the same time, I am not interested in insulting or demonizing Heathens who are more socially conservative than I by applying such labels to them. In the words of the well-known Heathen writer Eric Wodening "We are our deeds." I believe that is how we should evaluate both ourselves and others.
I get asked this question from time to time: "What if I turn out to be wrong and the fundamentalist Christians (or Muslims, etc.) are right?"
One should envision one's Gods as being at least as good as the best human beings. The best of us would not damn people for eternity for an honest difference of opinion or for petty faults. The best among us would not damn people for eternity at all. Judged by these criteria, the God of he fundamentalist Christians is unworthy of worship. In the unlikely event he is actually in charge, I would gladly go to hell with my head held high. At the same time, while I disagree with Christian teachings from their foundation myths on up, I am not going to attack something that brings hope, comfort and inspiration to people and makes them kinder and more honest human beings.
The quote below is certainly not all the story of Christianity, but it is a very significant part. A religion that preaches love and forgiveness but delivers nearly 2000 years of a very often violent intolerance, is something to be wary of. On the other hand, they give a fair warning in their own way. The by far most common symbol of their religion is a dead man hanging on a dead tree. Ours is Thor's Hammer, wielded for the protection of Gods and Humans from the forces of chaos and destruction:
"Millions of innocent men, women and children, since the introduction of Christianity, have been burnt, tortured, fined and imprisoned. What has been the effect of this coercion? To make one half the world fools and the other half hypocrites; to support roguery and error all over the earth." -Thomas Jefferson, Notes on Virginia, 1782.
Feel free to quote any of my signed writings. However, if you put any of my work on your pages, please give me credit and a link back to this page.
Folks, I've checked out and added to my pages a whole bunch of links to other sites of interest to Heathens. I enjoyed them and hope you will too. However, their presence on my web pages is not (necessarily) an endorsement of everything you might find on them, nor of the individual(s) responsible for their content. The Internet is in a constant state of flux, and links go dead sometimes. If you find one here, please e-mail me about it. Thanks. I recommend the Internet engine google.com to search for other pages on these and other topics related to Germanic Heathenism.
Please note that I can be a bit opinionated. However, I don't claim to have all the answers. I'm sure you will find things on this site that you agree with, and other things you disagree with. Please take what you can use; that's why I put this website together.
Hammerstead Kindred has amicably been put into "hibernation". Individuals interested in attending events of Asatru and other forms of Heathenism in the Lexington, KY area are cordially invited to contact me and to join troth-kentucky e-list, where open events are posted. It's also the best way to meet Kentucky and Kentucky area Heathens.
There are rituals, Lore classes, and Rune classes held by Ulfr Kindred here in Lexington, and I am actively involved with them. This group does not discriminate based on race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, etc. Ulfr Kindred meets monthly on Friday evenings in a private home, at 7:30 PM. For more info please e-mail Godhi Draven or write to:

In addition, there are three or four oracular Seidhr sessions per year here in the Lexington, Kentucky area. Please email Jordsvin more info, directions, etc.
Steve Wilson, founding Allsherjargodhi of Hammerstead Kindred, retains the Hammerstead Kindred name, which he created, and the option to revive it at some later date. Thanks Steve for all the many wonderful things you've done for Heathenism in Kentucky! Thanks also to Lisa Wilson and Dwayne/Badger, who, along with myself and Steve were the driving forces behind Hammerstead Kindred for so long.
