Overview: Aerial photos of new development in Chatham County 10/13/06

Photos were also taken from the air on October 13, 2006 of several major developments under construction in Chatham County. Development has released turbidity and/or various other pollutants into tributaries of the Haw River or Jordan Lake.

Big Woods

These photos are of new development adjacent to Jordan Lake along Big Woods Road.
#1 is an overview with Windfall and the Legacy in the foreground and the Preserve in the background.
#2-4 are areas currently under construction


Parkers Creek

This photo is the upper end of the Parkers Creek State Recreational Area at Jordan Lake. There have been many complaints by the public over the past year of very muddy water coming into this recreational swimiming area as the developments on Big Woods Road are being built. You can see the sediment buildup in this photo.


Briar Chapel (to the west of 15-501 off Mann's Chapel Rd)

#1 is an overview shot of clearing that has begun, and what appears to be work on the waste water system

Chapel Ridge and new MeadowView construction (between Old Graham Road and Hwy 87 northwest of Pittsboro)

#1 is an overview of Chapel Ridge with its water tower
#2 is new clearing
#3 shows the Clubhouse circle where Chapel Ridge (on right) meets Meadowview
#4-5 what appears to be the Chapel Ridge waste water treatment effluent holding pond and related system
