Even FORD can come up with a not so better idea. Mounting the TFI
(Thick Film Ignition) electronic module on the side of a physically hot Distributor,
when many cars now go well over 100 k miles is not so hot a
idea.
Even tho the Ford's TFI unit may be very good, anything can go bad. Then it can get badder, if one installs a non Ford aftermarket TFI. So, about 1987, some V6 T-Birds had the TFI mounted on a aluminum heat sink plate in front of the radiator. This is the harness that I used. A newer V8 distributor is needed that has a "pig-tailed" connector. The 94-95 5.0 Mustang & some Lincoln's have this. For the wiring schematic, I used a 88 Lincoln Continental. More details to follow. |
