Special orders
The 83-86 LTD's & some, but very few Marquis's, could be special ordered in many different combinations.
The Vinyl seats & Rubber floor mats associated with Police cars were available in the regular models. The Vinyl seats could also be either Bench or Buckets. Also the front & back seats could be different material.
The 4 cyl cars could be had with a 4 speed floor shifted trans.
One 4 cyl, 4 speed LTD, had the Police suspension & 140 speedo.
A Tan 85 Police had a 85 mph speedo, 3 gauge set over the glove box, Cloth front & Vinyl rear seats.
Many civilian Police cars where ordered by Government officials that came with all the options available except for the LX's.
Some of these Police cars could have reasonably low, easy miles on them. Great cars & great "Sleepers" !
The only Marquis I have ever seen with a 5.0 (non HO in this one), had stock suspension but with the LTD Police dash board (black) including the 140 speedo. Over the Glove Box where "LTD" is written, a sheet of plastic was glued on with "Marquis" on it. Still have the plastic piece.
