Media Chokers Created Dangers

SWERVING --- Forcing a Vehicle To swerve (Zig) into the Gutter area to slow down is contrary to Safe highway engineering! Roadways are designed with a Crowned cross-section for water drainage.

Forcing a Vehicle to drive into, at times, a water filled area, especially with one front wheel hitting deeper water than the other, & especially again while the Vehicle is angled towards the deeper water, is a recipe for losing control!

Along with the possibility of water soaking the Gutter side brakes more than the other, thereby creating uneven braking next time needed!

Along with the danger/annoyance of being a Pedestrian in that area & getting Drenched from the Gutter water being thrown up!

BICYCLIST --- Getting pinched/squeezed between a Swerving Vehicle & the Curb can not be a good thing, even with a Helmet!

CHILDREN --- Do not even have the dangerous safety of going between parked cars to retrieve a ball! Or if they should stumble off the Curbing, would be right in the Gutter flow of traffic!

What’s that you say? There’s a painted white line about 4’ from the Gutter that the Vehicles are to stay out of! Get real! Have you watched how people drive through there? Have you seen the Black tire marks on the RED Curbing & Yellow Choker?

HANDICAPPED --- Roll down the Wheelchair Ramps, reach street level, & you are right next to the Gutter Flowing Traffic! Where are you ADA?

EXITING PARKED VEHICLE --- After parking & before opening door, you look (I hope) in your drivers side mirror to see if any Vehicles are approaching. But if you are the first Vehicle parked just pasted the RED, you may not notice the approaching Vehicle coming from more behind you than from the normal driving lane next to you. If you are like some idiots who throw the door wide open, it may be removed, along with parts of ones body!

VEHICLE DRIVEN/PARKED, DRIVER, PEDESTRIAN, YARD WORKER, PROPERTY, OTHER VEHICLE/DRIVER --- Has there ever been another Auto Safety Device that has taken a perceived Danger & turned it into SUCH a Actual Danger?

PROPERTY VALUE --- As one owner across from one of the ugly Yellow painted, Black Tire Streaked cement island blobs laments, “Who would want to buy my House now”? And the feeling of danger when out side or even inside her living room is ever president!

This is an manufactured Danger that never was felt before! Implying & calling attention to this by installing these Rare, Unusual, Unknown, Ugly, Accident Magnets must certainly “Turn Off” prospective buyers!

MENTAL DEPRESSION --- Always on the Mind, in the Stomach & in the Eyes of the residents!

SLALOM RACING! --- Lots of the more active drivers would rather drive through some curves than down a boring straight road. So naturally, this is what happens when you create the opportunity! I have seen, along with a resident, & heard from another seeing this, a Surfer Dude (this time) with a Surfboard in the back of his Pickup, Racing through the intersection, at a 45 degree angle, & going around the Wrong side if the second Choker! Lots of Fun! LOTS of DANGER!

How do you stop this? How about some “ONE WAY” Arrow signs! Would be effective I’m sure, & enhance the beauty of it all! Or start educating the Kids, like from Kindergarten up, to obey the Rules & don’t do anything crazy that might put yourself/others at risk! That should work!

O, I almost forgot, there is one fool-proof, guaranteed way to stop this ---

ONE WAY, TIRE SHREDDING SPIKE STRIPS!

Or you could Rip the Chokers out before someone gets killed!

Well, maybe the spikes wouldn’t be such a good idea after all! Then when the Garbage Truck stops for a pick-up, or a service vehicle, moving van, (not to leave out a FIRE TRUCK or AMBULANCE), etc., parks near a Choker, nobody will be able to go around it the wrong way, as they could do now & continue on, without suffering some road-rage by the back-up!

Maybe a Traffic Gate could be used to prevent the wrong way racing, but sense when a stoppage is happening & open to allow traffic through the Wrong way between (not into, I hope) Right way traffic.

Maybe even the Traffic Gate could sense when you have traveled the block to fast & be lowered to make you stop for a bit.
