Happy Thanksgiving!

Mmmmm...pumpkin bread and pumpkin beer! We had a great Thanksgiving over at Grammy and Pop's. They hosted us and almost 20 others. Unfortunately I forgot the camera and Grammy's batteries were dead, so this is the only photo of the day. Too bad too because there was the perfect photo op when Sam and Patrick were sitting at the table eating dinner with their great grandparents. The food and drink were awesome and I narrowly escaped without having to unbutton my pants. Lunch today: turkey and ham paninis!

Here's Patrick in his big boy bed! He loves this thing and loves the fact that he can get in and out at will. He does manage to fall asleep, though.....eventually. Thanks to Sybil and Greg for letting us borrow it.

Trip to the Zoo

Today we took a trip to the zoo to see the new baby elephant, Sam. It was a great fall day in the 50's, but the sun felt nice and warm. Amazingly, the zoo wasn't all that packed either. We managed to make it to just about all of the exhibits within a few hours. We even ran into one of Sam's friends from his kindergarten class with his parents. When we got back I had just enough time to finish the new bench in the mudroom!

Pictures!!!
I've been shirking my duties to post to this site. Doh! Last post was in February, ouch. Molly's former coworker, Donna, has been on my case! Here you are, everyone...a ton of pictures. Have a happy fall!

Here are some shots from Halloween. We first went to Grammy and Pop's house and then went on to a party at Sam's classmate's house. Sam and I carved the pumpkins. He did the one with the triangle eyes and nose, and slanted smile all by himself....almost.

Here's the 2008 pinot noir harvest, 65lbs of grapes! That yielded 4 gallons. Once the runts of the vineyard start producing I should be well on my way to 5 gallons. This spring was cold and wet, but the fall made up for it with a few extra weeks of late warm dry weather.

Here are some miscellaneous pics over the this summer and fall. 1) Sam with his scarf that he wove on a handmade loom at school - look out Gigi! 2) Squirrel number two living in our attic who couldn't resist the peanut butter. 3) Sam, Patrick, and I at the river front park in Spokane. 4) Sam and Patrick on the patio. 5) Patrick getting his first haircut - at age two! 6) My new wheels. 7) Patrick on the porch. 8) Sam and Patrick before Sam's first day in kindergarten. 9) Sam posing with his new "Darth Vader" backpack, ready for kindergarten. 10) Pounds of fresh picked cascade hops in the boil for an imperial IPA. 11) Me volunteering at the Oregon Brewer's Festival holding the celebratory mallet that the Mayor uses to tap the first keg.

Two trips to the beach! The first was with Molly's family. We went to Gearhart. Sam celebrated his 5th birthday with a treasure map cake and loads of birthday loot. The weather was perfect! An evening on the beach with a bonfire and smores, what could be finer? The second trip we went to Lincoln City with my family. We stayed in a gorgeous house with tons of space.....and a hot tub! We spent lots of time on the beach, a couple whale watching trips to Depot Bay, and a visit to the Newport Bay Aquarium. Can't wait for next summer!

The Oregon State Fair! Rides, stinky animals, and corn dogs....a perfect day. The animals are always the best part. Patrick was in his element. He got so excited at each new critter we saw. I think his favorite though, was the chickens. Maybe we'll get some of our own!
