THE STORM

Devastation throughout creation --
Who can escape in this great nation?
Strength and power gone –
Tell me friend, can we go on?

Our life seems vanished in the storm
Tears and anger--faces forlorn
Can healing come from stark destruction?
When all around is vile corruption?

What’s the answer to our plight?
Shall we succumb, or shall we fight?
Is there hope for life again?
For helpless women, children, men?

Will grieving be our destiny?
Will we be safe? Will we be free?
We bind together in our sorrow
Hope’s glimmer rises for tomorrow

We look to God and God alone;
His gift of love the way has shone,
A new tomorrow will arrive;
If we have faith, we will survive—

For when this life on earth is gone
Eternally we will live on—
How we spend time here is our choice—
America, listen to God’s voice!

For once again we hear His call
“I gave My Son; I gave my all.”
Our perspective is so dim;
We measure life by flippant whim;

Write off God’s holiness above
Who wrapped the world with His great love,
We laugh and go our selfish way;
Then blame the Lord in our dismay—

America, listen to God’s voice!
Mend your ways— make a new choice
Once again, now hear God’s call,
“I gave My Son; I gave my all.”

DON'T FORGET THE PAST

Look to the future, dream your dreams
Seek your goals, the light that gleams
But don't forget the past

Miracles, trials that build faith and trust,
In all these things, memory's a must,
But don't forget the past

Yes, forgetting those things that are behind;
Satan's accusations that muddy your mind;
Things of sin; things of self--don't brood,
Forget those things; they're under the blood
Forget the bitterness, forget the sin,
Forget the wrongs that have hedged you in
Forget the grudges, let them go
But never forget--Jesus loves you so,

Remember the good things God has done
The strength he's given for the race you've run
Each trial's revealed a victory won
The list goes on, it's only begun,
Friend, don't forget the past.

Landmarks tested, tried and true
The grace He's given to see you through
Memories multiplied--many, not few
Oh friend what would we ever do
If we forgot the past

Past blessings, joys, amazing grace,
Good things that have happened in this place
From your mind do not erase
Always give them valued space
Friend, don't forget the past

New styles in worship come and go
Don't lightly reject what He's bestowed,
Esteem your God who is on His throne
His glorious works He has made known
Life's good things your faith has sown,
Don't forget the past

BE CAREFUL

There are "traps" along life's way,
So be careful --
They can ruin any day.
So be careful –
There are things you cannot know
In the pathway where you go
There are choices you must make
As to which way you will take
So be careful –

Give some thought to what you've learned
Obey and trust; God's word don't spurn
Each day apply it to your life
In this world of sin and strife
God’s promises are sure
So don’t give in to worldly lure,
There's a God who cares for you
And He'll always see you through
Be careful –

Take the time to watch and pray,
Read your Bible every day
When you sit and when you sleep
When you rise your day to greet
When you're keeping scheduled dates
Please learn not to hesitate
To ask for guidance in each task
Take off that silly mask
Be careful --

Don't forget your Lord above
Don't forget His grace and love
Don't forget He never fails
His mercy always will prevail
Keep God's commands and His decrees
Get strength to do it on your knees
Trust the Lord, you are His child
By sin no longer you're defiled
Just be careful –

Satan's aim is to destroy
To make you doubt and kill your joy
But you're on a different plane
When in Christ you do remain
So the deceiver of your soul
Can’t win for Christ has made you whole
Don’t let Satan’s tricks have any place
As you run this Christian race
Be careful --

And even if sometimes you fail
Don’t give up, child; don’t bewail
For Jesus blood still cleanses sin
You can’t lose, but only win
Some day your Lord will say “Well done.
My child the victor’s crown you’ve won.”
You’ll be rich with Christ’s reward
And glad you heeded this good word
Just Be careful --

I HEAR ANGELS

Sometimes I hear the Angels singing;
I know that they're aware
Around my heart softly winging
To lift my every prayer

When other voices, dark surround
To hamper my soul's peace
When bleak and dark the night to me
No light to see--pain will not cease

That's when my Savior whispers sweet
And sends His Angels down
Their gentle voices fill the air—
Erase all other sounds

Radiant light then fills my soul
And shatters darkness deep
I lift my heart; then humbly kneel
And worship at Christ's feet

THE NAME OF JESUS

Crossing out the name of Jesus
Seems popular these days
Appeasing those who would deny Him
In so many different ways

Stephen died proclaiming it
To men whose hearts were cold;
They stoned him for the name of Christ
He did so dearly hold

And those who want it stricken
From prayers and songs we sing
Deny He is the Son of God
The Lamb, God's offering...

They say they're Jews or infidels;
Cults or Islam is their claim
They say they are offended
At the mention of Christ's name

The names of Buddha and Mohammed
Or Confucius are allowed
Their mention's not prohibited
In any kind of crowd

Yet the name of Jesus
Is silenced without thought;
It only proves that He is God
Who by His blood we're bought

Yes, they trash the name of Jesus
But some day everyone will bow
And confess His name most precious
Why wait? Friend, do it now

A REASON TO REJOICE

Tis the message of our Savior:
"Behold I live forevermore"
That keeps us in our sorrows;
then brings joys He has in store.
It's the message of forgiveness
when we were in our sin;

It’s the message of redemption
so that we might live again.
So may your path of sadness
lead to life anew;
The life that Jesus gives
because He lives for me and YOU!!

A SAVIOR IS BORN

The sky was black; the stars shone bright
The Shepherds lay in sleep that night
When suddenly a radiant light
Flooded the Eastern sky
And angels sang a glorious theme
About a Baby born nearby
"Glory to God," resounded then
"Peace on Earth, Good Will to men,
"A Savior is born in Bethlehem."

THIS DAY

This day, a day like no other
This day the prophets foretold
This day surrounded by promise
This day the truth to unfold

This day the God Man of heaven
Came down as the Father had planned
This day He was born in a manger
An infant, yet God's dying Lamb

This day--the day we call Christmas
Has changed the course of mankind
And given us hope for the future
Both here and in Heaven sublime

This day Salvation has come
The Star over Bethlehem shines
"All Glory to God!" sing the Angels
This day is yours!
This day is mine!

"For unto you is born this day in the
city of David a Savior, which is
Christ the Lord."
--Luke 2:11
USE ME LORD

Lord, your blessings are so many
I didn’t know what you had planned
You had one more thing unfinished
When you called with love’s demand

You said, “Child, you’re still my servant
“And with you I am not through
“I have another task that I’ve cut out for you
“To minister and serve, I know that is your heart
“So child, you’re never finished
“There are more jobs you must start

I use all my children,
I use them one by one
So as long as you’re on earth, my child
You’re task is never done.”
