Joann
J. Johnson, the author’s daughter, who was inspired to finish her mother’s work,“The Other Cross”
after her death in 1970, is a dramatist, composer, writer, and graphics designer. She
authored “Forever Poetry,” a book of her original poems; has written several Biblical musical dramas, her
most celebrated being “Jochebed’s Boy,” the story of Moses as told by his elderly mother, Jochebed,
portrayed in fifteen scenes with twenty-two musical compositions. She is a recipient
of the Paul Mickelson Music Award for Meritorious Service and a member of the American Society of Composers Authors and Publishers.
Her
career includes positions with Pacific Telephone and Telegraph Company (Pacific Bell); Foursquare International Department
of Youth and Christian Education; Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Homicide Bureau; Sheriff’s Station Supervisor,
Technical Services Division Administrative Assistant, and Detective Division Investigations Analyst. Her last assignment was with the Los Angeles County Chief Administrative Office as Staff Analyst/Graphics
Artist, participating in the oversight and reorganization of departments administering automated information resources. Now retired, Joann remains active in graphics artistry, writing, and music.
