         Cordon and Search        Major R.D.Wilson , The history of the 6th Airborne Division in
                                                        Palestine 1945 to 1948. This was published by Gale and Polden in
                                                        Aldershot, then the new home of the Parachute Regiment, in 1949.
                                                        As far as I know this is the only book that has been published covering
                                                        this time period.

       A Drop too Many             Major General John Frost, The war time experiences of the commander of
                                                       the  1st Bn . These were the parachutists that got to the bridge and held
                                                       it until they were finally overwhelmed by far superior German forces.
                                                                          An extremely interesting book!

      A Bridge too far               Cornelius Ryan,The definitive account of Operation Market Garden.
 

       Prelude to Glory             Group Captain Maurice Newnham,  First book about the creation of the Parachute                                                        Regiment . Now long out of print but available on the second hand market, cost                                                              about $100 but worth it.

                                                     

     Winged Dagger                    Captain  Roy Farran, S.A.S. A riveting account of his experiences
                                                      in the S.A.S. in North Africa and  Italy.  Of interest is his account of his
                                                      work as a Palestine policeman after the war.
 

  Paratroopers of the 50's      A page about our American friends  with lots of links including some to
                                                      ex Red Devil pages including mine. Of special interest are the photos , the
                                                      way we were and how we are today.

Britains Small Wars               After World War II the British Army was involved in actions and engagements
                                                       all over the world from Palestine to the Gulf War. This site is without doubt the
                                                       best account of all these "Small Wars'. If you want to know about the Falklands,
                                                       Northern Ireland, Cyprus, The Canal Zone , Borneo, Malaya or any of those other
                                                       almost forgotten "wars' then this site is for you.
