Kathryn is spending more time on her tummy, as her arms grow stronger and she learns to grab things and pull them to her. She has had to make peace with being face-down, since most of her rolling-over is still only one way -- from face-up to face-down -- so she puts herself in this position often.
Here we see her executing a flawless roll. Now she will be stuck facing the bedspread until someone happens along and rescues her.
She went to her first pool party and looked fetching in her swimsuit, although she was rather unhappy about actually getting wet. She also went to more farmer's markets and flea markets, which she loves for the constant movement and the dense concentration of people and sights. On her first airplane flights (to Yakima, Washington) she also proved to be a good traveler.
Our dog enjoys accompanying Kathryn on outings, since Kathryn gets tired of riding in the stroller and the dog never does.
She is spending less time sleeping and more time discovering things. Her tongue was a big discovery, which occupied her for a whole day as she practiced sticking it out, rolling it around, and pulling it back in -- over and over. Holding and gumming foods like bread crusts entertains her enormously, and she is very interested in our meals. Perhaps by next month she will start eating solid foods.
