In Kathryn's second month, she saw a lot of the great outdoors. She also began to smile big, beaming smiles. Coincidence?
She went on her first camping trip. 
Okay, it wasn't a backpacking trip, but it was a big adventure for Kathryn, who slept through her first thunderstorm, had her first bath in the camper, and took her first "walk" in the mountains.
"Thank Goodness the camper has hot water!"
"Can I even focus on any of this?"
We also took Kathryn to the beach for the first time. 
She is very alert when being carried through new places, wide-eyed and looking around, and far prefers being vertical in her carrier to being prone in her stroller. When laying quietly on the bed at home, she is starting to make little mouth noises. And she is happy almost all of the time.
