Emily Harvey
Air Traffic Assistant, Dallas/Ft. Worth TRACON/ATCT
Soon after Emily graduated from Gladewater High School she followed her life long dream to pursue a career in aviation.
Emily graduated from the Airline Reservations School in Portland, Oregon. Although she loved this job, Emily wasn’t satisfied and wanted to learn more in the aviation field. She joined the Army in 1974 where she received her training and performed her military duties as an Air Traffic Controller. Emily met her husband in the Army and they started their family with a precious bundle of Joy. Due to the needs of her family, Emily sacrificed her military career and was honorably discharged after her first term. She joined her family overseas and returned to the United States in 1981.
Emily missed the working life and accepted employment with the Veterans Administration as a mail clerk. Due to her interest in aviation she looked for other opportunities and accepted a position with the Federal Aviation Administration at Austin Robert Mueller Airport, where she worked as an Air Traffic Assistant until 1993. She transferred to Dallas/Ft. Worth TRACON/ATCT as an Air Traffic Assistant.
As if raising a family and pursuing an aviation career was not demanding enough, Emily still finds time to be actively involved within the FAA and the local community.
In the year 1984, Emily joined the National Black Coalition. She is currently serving her second term as Membership Chairperson for the Dallas/Ft. Worth Chapter.
Emily was a member of the Federal Women’s Program where she fulfilled appointed terms as Vice President and President.
Emily is a member of the Regional OSHECCOM Committee, Model Work Environment Committee and performs the duty as the Executive Secretary for the National Association of Government Employees.
Emily enjoys doing her part for the community. She is an Evangelist Missionary and Sunday school teacher for the Cathedral Faith COGIC in Euless, Texas.
