Memphis Scottish Country Dancers

Scottish country dancing is the national social dance of Scotland. It evolved from court dances, Highland steps, and English country dancing of the 17th and 18th Centuries, all done to distinctively Scottish music. It fell out of fashion by the early 1900's. In the 1920's Miss Jean Milligan formed the Royal Scottish Country Dance Society to restore and revitalize Scottish country dancing. Today there are Scottish country dancing groups and classes around the world. It is a pastime in which almost everyone can participate.

More information on Scottish Country Dancing all over the world can be found at The Strathspey Server.
