Award winning author, Jo Harper, grew up in the Texas Panhandle riding horses and eating jalapeņo peppers. She studied at
Texas Tech University and at Penn State University.
She received a National Endowment for the Humanities grant to study the fusion of visual and verbal art at Columbia University.
She also studied in various summer programs in Spain and Mexico and holds two professional teaching certificates. She is a
dynamic storyteller and has programs for all grade levels. She also gives workshops and presentations to teachers and other
adult groups. Her books include fiction, biography, tall tales, and history, and are set in Texas and Mexico. She has won
a number of honors and awards.
