THE X-FILES: Fight the Future

Star Star Star½

Speaking as a longtime fan, I was impressed. This feature proves that THE X-FILES will be able to continue long after the television series has ended. Those who are not fans may have trouble in understanding certain parts, but it’s not too bad. In fact, the friend I was with had the same questions I did. FIGHT THE FUTURE may have to be watched more than once to take it all in, as all good films should be. Moviegoers may also be put off by the lack of closure within certain plot elements. Well, truth be told, this is typical X-FILES. Chris Carter always leaves a certain ambiguity and vagueness in every story. I wish there had been more closure too, but the movie is still good without it. As Carter said, the movie answers some questions and poses more. Well, he wasn’t lying, because I sure have some. (And don’t worry, there’s still enough unknowns to keep it all going.) In understanding THE X-FILES, you do have to think. It’s not the mindless fodder that those who know nothing about it would accuse it off. The audience for my screening was a variety for sure, both young and old, male and female. You soon realize that THE X-FILES’ appeal is limitless and not just enjoyed by a bunch of trekkie-types. Anyone who tells you different is a moron.

The special effects are OSCAR caliber and director Rob Bowman should enjoy a nice career in films when all is said and done. So maybe it’s not THE GODFATHER, but it is entertaining, fun and never boring. For any of you that have a mild interest in this show, the movie is a good introduction. :-)

Tell you what, and I’m very serious about this, if you have questions about things you didn’t understand, or things you’d like more of an explanation on, E-mail me and I will try to help. I don’t have all the answers, but as a fan I might be able to give you more insight.
