THE UNINVITED

GENRE: Horror
YEAR: 1944
RATED: Unrated

Old yes, but no less brilliant. In fact, the black and white wonderfully adds to this film’s eerie feel. A brother and sister soon find that the home of their dreams has a disturbing and deadly past. And it may be haunting their home, quite literally. When the two delve into the house’s past to discover the truth, they learn some disturbing facts. For one, the former owner, Mary Meredith, had fallen to her death from the nearby cliffs some years before. And her daughter, Stella, now lives with her grandfather, who sold the house to Rick and Pamela. Romantically interested in Stella, Rick invites her to visit the house. And for some reason, the grandfather forbids her even going near it. Why, we don’t know. But something strange does happen when she is there…

Ray Milland plays Rick Fitzgerald and hopefully you’ll learn, as I did, that he is one of the great classic actors. I originally heard about this movie and watched it because of Leonard Maltin. This is odd because I usually never see eye to eye with him on movies, but he was right on the money with this one. THE UNINVITED is very spooky and should be watched with the lights off!
