TOMORROW NEVER DIES

Star Star½

“The best Bond movies in years!” This is what I kept thinking all throughout TOMORROW NEVER DIES. (Of course, I was excluding Sheryl Crow’s awful song in the beginning from this train of thought.) I was perfectly prepared to praise this movie and give it 3 stars in my review. That, my friends, was until the ending. I don’t know what happened, but the last 15 minutes just sucked. The final action sequence is so overblown and the ending itself so dumb, that I was completely aghast. It was as if I switched to a different movie, I’m not kidding!!! I also wasn’t that impressed with Michelle Yeoh either, and we all know why her character was there. They obviously wanted a strong female presence opposite Bond and not the same old cliché. That’s very admirable and completely welcome. Unfortunately, I don’t think it worked. I found her more pointless and uninteresting rather than a strong, valid character. Despite this, it was still better than the last two Bond movies for sure. So if you do decide to see this, you may want to leave early.
