A spectacular movie indeed, that easily finds its way into the top five of 1997. James Cameron’s TITANIC is wonderfully lavish and epic in its scale. The special effects alone are amazing and the acting superb. But most importantly, this is a very touching and emotional film. Certain scenes really make it hard to hold back the tears too. Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet are wonderful together and the supporting cast is just as good, including Billy Zane, Frances Fisher, Victor Garber, Suzy Amis, Bill Paxton, David Warner, Jonathan Hyde and Kathy Bates. Without a doubt, this film proves that James Cameron is not only an exceptional filmmaker but a versatile one as well. His films are consistently above average and never boring certainly, which is something that not even most A-list directors can do. And for those of you into movie music, James Horner’s score is incredible. I even bought the soundtrack just hours after seeing it. It’s excellent! TITANIC, truly, deserved every OSCAR it received.
