SOLARIS falls under my “Movies for a rainy Sunday” category. Something about the feel or the style just makes it appropriate for those conditions. Unfortunately, this means that you’re less likely to expect anything. And not expecting something is about the only way you can enjoy it. SOLARIS is no exception. This is a love story in the classic Sci-Fi sense; therefore, larger audiences won’t connect. And true enough, it faded from theaters pretty quickly. Is this a jewel waiting to be discovered by home viewing audiences? Nope, sorry! Not unless you want a good sleeping-pill.
