With SCARY MOVIE 2, you’re not expecting Shakespeare, nor would anyone with half a brain. But the expectation is, and justifiably, that you’ll see something as good as the first. The first SCARY MOVIE, while no classic, was good for a few laughs. And believe it or not, this sequel started off surprisingly well with a hilarious EXORCIST parody. Naturally, it’s gross and disgusting, but extremely funny too. However, this bit has nothing to do with the rest of the plot. Basically, SCARY MOVIE 2 is a bunch of skits strung together, even more so than the first. Then after a few more good bits, scattered of course, it falls apart completely (if it was ever together to begin with). Any of the feeble jokes remaining aren’t funny in the least, as you wait and wait for the credits to role. But they deserve points. There were no references to the first movie and absolutely no “Wassup’s.” Thank God!
