RUSHMORE

Star Star Star½

I don’t mind saying that RUSHMORE made me laugh quite a lot. If it just hadn’t dragged so much in the second half, I would have been happier. The plot is certainly out there though and definitely not the norm, which many times is the best part.

Bill Murray and newcomer Jason Schwartzman (son of Talia Shire) are wisely cast. Schwartzman actually reminded me of a young Judd Nelson, in the face that is. And Murray, whose made some bad movies sure, at least still has the comedic edge, unlike Chevy Chase and Dan Aykroyd. Just the faces he makes in this movie alone are hysterical.

RUSHMORE may not be perfect, but has more good than bad. It’s also not for everyone, but worth a trip to the theater if you like movies that are unique.
