YOU’VE GOT MAIL

YOU’VE GOT MAIL is proof positive that romantic comedies can be superb without being overly sappy or cheesy. With the recent trends in technology, I shouldn’t be surprised that a movie like this would be made. But I didn’t think it would be this good though. Nora Ephron’s film is in fact excellent and Tom Hanks continues to be one of the most likable screen actors out. The best thing about this film is that it’s consistent, which most movies in 1998 weren’t able to do. They’d either go from bad to good or from good to bad, sometimes more than once. YOU’VE GOT MAIL stays good all the way through and is one of the year’s best.

Those of you thinking about turning to the Internet for finding true love should first learn to be careful. Is love possible through the Internet? I myself once thought I had and fell head over heels in love with someone I’d met over it. (Of course, my relationship with her went beyond simple E-mails.) But in the end, for various reasons, I had my heart broken. Still, maybe it is another way to find that person for you, but as in all things, you need to be careful. There are enough psychos out there just looking for someone to play with. Don’t let it be you!
