GONE IN 60 SECONDS

Star Star½

Why critics were having such a cow over this is beyond me. Compared to most Jerry Bruckheimer productions, this is one of the more decent entries. Maybe they’re just sick of him. Well, that I can certainly understand. But something about this movie made me want it to be an exception in the Bruckheimer catalogue. More specifically, I wanted it to be good. And sure, there’s some gaping plot holes and nonsensical action sequences throughout, but I was entertained, even though it’s only an average flick overall. Bruckheimer certainly has some of the best preview makers in the business, because they do suck you in.

Angelina Jolie fans take note. For some reason, she’s not in this as much as you’d think. In fact, even in many large group scenes, she’s strangely missing. I had the feeling that maybe she was making another film simultaneously, and just couldn’t be in every scene they wanted. But while her screen time isn’t exactly small either, GONE IN 60 SECONDS still could have utilized her talents more.
