FACE/OFF is a very entertaining and above average action movie. It’s not perfect, but director John Woo does a good job nonetheless. The real highlights, in fact, are the lead performances. John Travolta and Nicolas Cage are fantastic in each of their personas, especially Travolta. Structurally speaking, the film is at its weakest in the middle and the final action sequence is really tacked on and unnecessary, mostly because it runs too long. But luckily these lull points aren’t too bad and not enough to ruin it. FACE/OFF still has a number of brilliant cinematic sequences that more than make up for this.
