DUDE, WHERE’S MY CAR?

Star½

Unlike most stupid films, this one isn’t bad enough to make you churn in your seat. But you’ll still be asking yourself, how much stupider can this possibly get? The answer is a lot! Yet, believe it or not, there are some genuinely funny parts. The scene with the blind kid, for example, is hysterical. Ashton Kutcher pulls off the dumb guy well, since he’s already used to it (THAT ‘70s SHOW), but the other guy (Seann William Scott) is terrible. Stupid just isn’t his forte, but playing a smart ass is. Poor Ashton though, he’s probably doomed forever to play this kind of role, just like Matt Le Blanc. But saddest of all is Kristy Swanson, in that she’s had to sink this low. What in God’s name is wrong with Hollywood Executives? Here’s a good actress right in their midst and they don’t even use her in anything worthwhile. Maybe it’s because she has standards when it comes to what she’ll do for a role. And we all know how important “standards” are in Hollywood. Yeah, right!

In closing, I doubt I’ll dissuade those of you who were intent on seeing this anyway. But since DUDE, WHERE’S MY CAR? does have some surprising cameos and a few decent jokes, it’s still not as bad as some things I’ve sat through recently. :-)
