DRACULA 2000

Star½

The name alone suggests a classic, right? Uhhhhhh, no, not really! Anyway, DRACULA 2K stars Trent Reznor, or some guy who just looks like him, and a cast any director with sense would beg for. In the past, horror makers couldn’t get these quality performers if their lives depended on it. Now they all seem to be lining up in droves to get killed…literally. But since these flicks are consistently sucking, why do they even bother? Your guess is as good as mine.

The updating and premise for DRACULA 2000 is decent and a damn good story could have come from it. But as usual, we only see hints of the possibilities in its current form. Every scene of so-called suspense moves at a snail suspense, and the movie just isn’t good enough to justify it. The scope is rather limited, and when you combine that with the usual horror clichés, it finally comes across as a real cheapie. Yes, I wish good ideas could automatically translate into good films, but they don’t unfortunately.
