DIRTY WORK

Star Star

A great premise, sure, but that’s all. Being able to hire someone to get back at all the people that have wronged you sounds hysterical. DIRTY WORK, however, just doesn’t follow through. It’s another weak comedy that has some great moments but not enough substance to be a cohesive two-hour plot. In this case, barely 90 minutes. I like Norm Macdonald, but his first outing since leaving SNL is a real let down. Hopefully he’ll come out with something better soon.

On a sad note, this movie will mark Chris Farley’s final screen appearance. I wish I could say that his last performance is a laugh riot, but it isn’t. What you see instead is the sparkle in this once funny and talented comedian fading out. Before his untimely death, Farley was getting typecast in the same role over and over, and DIRTY WORK is no exception sadly. If things had been different, one can only hope that he would have raised himself out of this rut, both personally and professionally. But I guess we’ll never know. I apologize for suddenly making this review so serious, but it’s hard to avoid. Goodbye Chris, you will be missed!
