Despite a few downward spikes, THE BOURNE IDENTITY is pretty entertaining. Matt Damon is outstanding and the engaging plot will remind many of those great spy films of yesteryear. Not surprising, since the source material is Robert Ludlum. One stunt sequence near the end will have you howling at its absurdity, but in the grand scheme is only a minor flaw. Makes you wonder why it was even there.
