| ALIEN RESURRECTION |

ALIEN RESURRECTION…Not only a title, but a hope as well. Why the double meaning, you ask? Well, the studios very obviously hoped that this movie would “resurrect” the whole ALIEN franchise, especially after that insult of a film, ALIEN³. (I’m sorry, but that movie isn’t worth the crud under my feet.) Unfortunately, RESURRECTION doesn’t much diverge from the downward spiral of a path set forth by that previous abomination. This movie had so many opportune moments to excite and dazzle us, but just couldn’t follow through on any of them. Granted, there are bits and pieces that are entertaining, but that’s all they are. And even with these few sparse moments, you’re never really on the edge of your seat or scared. Also, if you’re like me, you’ll be asking yourself, “What the hell is Winona Ryder doing in this?” I had hoped that she would be the tow hold for bringing the film together. Sadly, all she did was look confused and out of place. So to the makers of this movie, I say this. Please spare us any future ALIEN movies if all you’re going to do is make half-assed attempts. If the ALIEN series has run its course, then let it die with dignity and not be spoken of in the same vain as other sequel laden trash.
