10 THINGS I HATE ABOUT YOU

Star Star Star

Honestly, the review here was almost 10 things I hate about this film. Simply because characters and setups are so irritating that you wish you could reach in and smack these people yourself. Yes, they have to be this way in order for them to grow later, but it’s reiterated ad nauseam. Arghhh!!! I mean, anyone who raises Sylvia Plath above Ernest Hemingway, as Kat does, is obviously a moron. (Sorry, it’s an English major gripe.) But these aside, there are some good scenes and real worthwhile moments here. The characters become likeable enough that you do care about them. And the acting is really good too with some potential stars among the bunch, like Julia Stiles.

So why didn’t I give it more? Good question. Afterwards, the mediocre parts bugged me enough to stick only with a 3 star rating. Still, I would like to see it again, even now. So maybe it’ll grow on me more in the future? 10 THINGS is at least worth the price of admission. :-)
