Captain James "Eagle-eye" White was part of the 1st Division Recon Unit and the best scout the military had ever seen. The 1st was brought in on every risky mission. Without fail, they achieved advanced tactical superiority which made the resulting operation go smoothly.

As with most top performers, Captain White and his unit became over utilized getting deployed all around the globe and getting placed in every conceivable hostile environment.  The thing is, Captain White loved what he did. While he knew his unit was becoming exhausted and morale was beginning to slip, he just couldn't refuse a mission. And so, when Captain White was presented with a mission to recon what was believed to be a advanced weapons facility he jumped at the chance. But there's a problem with dealing with advanced weapons - they're advanced. The early information was that the facility was performing research on tactical weapons that could be used to overwhelm an enemy on the battlefield.

Without delay, Captain White and his unit got into place. They quickly discovered that the facility not only researched tactical weapons, but advanced detection and communication systems as well.  However, they didn't know that the enemy knew that they knew what they know...you know? The key word in all of this being, "advanced."

Sensing that something wasn't right, Captain White signaled for his unit to fall back, but it was too late. The enemy took this opportunity to test some of their new weapons and they appeared to work well.  Without mercy, Captain White's unit was taken completely out.   They also performed the first trial of the "Nova Gun" which is a handheld weapon that generates light five time brighter than the sun. Captain White was the unfortunate recipient of this device, which seared his eyes from his head.

The evac team was able to retrieve Captain White. After an initial debriefing, Captain White was notified that he was going to be court marshaled for acting without authority. This was not true, of course. After the military learned of what was being developed in that facility, they knew they were in no position to escalate  any kind of political situation.  So they covered up the operation and claimed that Captain White acted on his own.  This was hard on Captain White who went from being the best of the best to the lowliest of the low all in a single day - the same day that robbed him of sight.

So Captain White, who was in fact the best of the best, even without his sight, planned his escape while at the hospital and succeeded.

Captain White then spent the next few months trying to cope with the loss of his unit and his sight. The few friends that were still willing to help him soon turned away as they began to realize that this was not the same man they once knew. Perhaps he really was guilty of the crimes they said he committed? Not being able to take it any longer, Captain White began to seek alternative forms of healing.

He met with a Shaman who was said to be of great mystical power. When the Shaman asked Captain White, "What is it that you ask of me?" Captain White responded with, "I want to look my men in the face and talk to them again. I want to be able to see the world through their eyes, before all of this happened." To which, the Shaman responded with, "I have the power to make this so..."

Captain White found himself waking up. He had no idea how long he was out or even where he was...for he still could not see. Breaking down into tears, he cried out, "I just want to see my men again!" And with that, a dot of light appeared in Captain White's mind. And that dot began to grow bigger. Soon shades of gray were emerging as were amorphous shapes. And there it was! Muted colors were developing and sharper images! It was a miracle!

But then Captain White realized something. The image he was looking at was himself! Not understanding what was going on, he could actually see the look of bewilderment upon his own face. And then he heard it. A voice from one of his men...Jones, perhaps. And then another and yet another. He then watched as his gaze, seemingly not under is direct control, turn and looked across the room. It was then that Captain White screamed, for there were the skulls of all of the men in the unit just floating there. They were all chatting up a storm.

After a moment, Captain White finally said, "Enough!" And with that, the skulls all quieted down.  Realizing that he could see what every skull could see and that the skulls could pass through anything, Captain White was beginning to think this wasn't so bad after all. After a moment of silence, one of the skulls asked, "What are your orders, sir?"

Captain White just smiled and said, "You can all call me The Seer from now on." And after another moment he added, "Why don't we go get us some access codes, eh boys?" And with that, The Seer walked out into the world.
