Terrorantula

First off the NPC qst giver is named Yulil Ashebrook and he hides in the glowing rock pile DIRECTLY NORTH of the monk tower in the Eternal Desert (referred to as ED from here on out.). This is the only rock pile in the North area of ED so its easy to find, although Yulil is not. From personal experience he hides and only appears to give the qst on random days/times. Neither real life days and times nor EQ days and times have anything to do with his appearance whatsoever. Your best bet if you wish to find him is to travel to this rockpile and log there, this way where Yulil spawns will be the last thing you check before you log and the first place you check when you log on. All three times I've seen him were found this way.

AN IMPORTANT NOTE ON THIS QUEST! Once ONE person finds and speaks to Yulil and receives the quest the NPC will vanish until that one person either:

Completes the quest.

The timer on the quest expires and is deleted from the holder, making it free for everyone to find again. While the time span isn't known it has been confirmed that it IS most definitely timed because of the fact that since this is only given to one person at a time and the time was indefinite and that player decided to stop playing EQ for a month or so or even close their account then the quest would never become available again for other players, thus the time limit for fairness to all. I will say that I held mine for 2 days and Jipt held his for nearly 3 and it was still active for us both so we know at least that this many days is ok to hold it.

Now for the qst itself. Once found Yulil will tell you how this monsterosity has been haunting him since he can remember and asks you to find 5 parchments so that he can research the spider's history and find a way to rid Tunaria of it. This is where directions aren't extremely clear or right in other guides so here is the exact locations of the 5 pages of this quest.

Page 1: Takish Xiv' (w) on the pile of rocks just south of the river. The glowing rocks will be found just on top of a small sand dune. Make sure your team is ready because the monster you will fight can't be seen until you approach the rocks and a message prompt appears spawning a Death Weaver who holds the paper.

Page 2: Go west from the first page location until you hit the East area of the next zone. Once you cross into the East area of this zone begin to go South and you should see a lone rock on a small hill not to far south. It is here that the next message and creature will spawn, the Death Spitter. Defeat him for the page.

Page 3: This on is indeed in Takish Hiz' inside the ruined city as stated but here is a more exact way to find it. Go into the SE area of the city and walk around until you find yourself on a flat patch of sand near a tower holding 3 truearm scouts inside. Walk around this area between the wall outlining the city's border and the truearm tower and the message should appear and give the 3rd page to you. There is no monster spawn here.

Page 4 & 5: These are in the same zone so I'll list them together. Go to Takish Hiz South (c) and you should see a row of joined columns in the desert sand near the river. Run zig zag through these columns and you should find the message and page 4. Page 5 is in another set of columns a little North of the first set of columns. Neither are guarded by monsters. You are now ready to summon Terrorantulas.

To summon Terrorantulas just go and talk to Yulil and present him with the 5 pages. Take no one with you and make sure your not grped because you will instantly die when you do this. (No reason to have your helpers die too or worse have the grp that your in attract the spider to somewhere filled with people coaching...like Oasis where everyone is most likely to meet.) DO NOT GET A TO GO REZ! Terrorantula is not a roamer so a rez would sit you right back where he's waiting to kill you again. Now comes the actual killing part. 3 grps should do it and depending on who all is in your grp here is 2 methods to victory.

No matter the style the ultimate goal is to kill the 6-8 poisonweavers before even THINKING of going after the titanic terror. The reason is these baby baddies have the ability to port the player right in front of Terrorantulas, where he will AoE for 2k and poison what's left away. So killing the porters is a MUST, and here is a few ways to do it. If you have any enchanters in your grps have the tanks pull the poisonweavers to the enc, let him/her charm it and either make it attack another poisonweaver causing them to poison themselves to death or kill it while charmed. Once the field is cleared in this way take down Terrorantulas directly. If there are no encs but a tank in each grp have each pick a poisonweaver and draw to their grp to destroy. This way 3 at a time are killed instead of 1, which is a must since there is a short time span until they port everyone to Terrorantulas. PR jewelry and equipment is a definite plus here in this fight. Also if anyone dies in combat with Terrorantulas don't hesitate to root his butt and back up until all are rezzed, cured of poison and ready to fight. He can't heal himself but he will use AoE if you're too close so back up if you root him and anyone rezzing back in this area of danger should invis before rezzing. ABSOLUTELY NO KITING THIS ONE! This will cause the whole herd of spiders to chase the person around unless the poisonweavers are killed 1st. Even then there is nowhere for the others to hide from the AoE blasts like with Dreads, not to mention kiting is slower and with a poisonous enemy do you REALLY wanna take longer than necessary? Use all pets and any nukes seem to work fine so blast away at the menace and he should fall in only a minute or two. On a final note DON'T LOOT THE POISONWEAVERS! Don't even LOOK at them as they are all empty spawns and will disappear if looked at only to respawn when you don't need them.

While no xp is given for this quest he drops different items everytime killed. So far we have seen two different all all rings, a healer only totem and a tank/melee shield. It also seems this quest can be repeated as many times as liked to collect all these goodies or at least until you find the item made especially for your class.
