Wow! May Day, sometimes known as Beltane, started this week on Sunday. This
is the halfway point between the spring equinox and summer solstice. Seems like only yesterday we were celebrating the arrival
of spring and we’re halfway to summer already! Boy does time ever pass quickly…
Of course, we have Cinco de Mayo (Mexican Independence Day), and Mother’s
Day in the US and Canada as well this week. Guess we could celebrate all week if we wanted to. Doesn’t take much to
get me in a celebration frame of mind this time of year – It’s just so lovely out! Even the rain feels good.
Saturday is the big plant sale in our neighborhood park. I’ve been saving
up all week for pepper and tomato plants. Seattle Tilth does this sale each year and the plants are just the best for growing
in this area. I can hardly wait!
I guess my mind is so full of plant thoughts that it makes sense that I fell
in love with this site on the net dedicated to orchids. I never actually have owned an orchid plant, but they are really fascinating.
If you’d like to check out the site, there is everything from history and plant culture to literally hundreds of pictures
of orchids. Hint When you click on a thumbnail shot to see a full photo, click on the “comment”
link above it for a description and history.

In case you missed the announcement last week,
We have a winner in our Letterhead contest. The winner is: Drum roll please…. Perry Burgess. I’ve
sent Perry an email to let him know, and Rhonda has also sent him one telling him how to claim his free package. Congratulations,
Perry, and thank you to those who entered.
Program Review
Permaworld
Well, you know me, I’m very passionate about the beauty of this planet.
I just can’t help wanting to keep it that way, so when I heard about a program that aimed towards just that, I just
had to join. Unfortunately the program had some huge administrative and software problems which went on for quite a while,
so while I have mentioned the program before, I’ve held off doing a lot of promoting until I was sure they had worked
things out.
If you haven’t checked it our lately, you might want to take a look at
the new site. The focus is being changed to include more sellable products and there are some excellent news feeds about environmental
issues. (Click on News to see these.)
I haven’t tried their new web-hosting which is just one of their benefits
of upgraded membership, but I have used their autoresponder which is pretty easy to understand and certainly worked well enough.
There are several other products including an “earth card” which is a global ATM/Debit card you can use worldwide.
It is free to join and you can
remain a free member as long as you wish, so that gives you a good chance to check out all the possibilities. I’m really
wanting to work with this program, guys and I hope several of you will join me. Check it out here.
