Statistics have shown that it takes at least seven contacts for an average
Internet customer to buy anything from you. The best way to automatically follow up with your visitors is by using auto responders.
An Auto responder is basically your secretary but the good thing is that it
works for you 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. It is an email system that allows you to tell it what messages
to send & when to send it.
Formatting
The first thing you should be sure while writing your auto responder series
is that you format your follow-ups to 65 characters or less per line, Otherwise your follow-ups will look all screwy as everyone's
email programs are different. To avoid this mistake always make sure your message is 65 characters per line & remember
to press "ENTER" key when you get to 65 characters.
Personalize
Always personalize your message with the first name of your prospect. Try to
use it more than once if possible. Prospects will feel much better when they see Hi [First Name] rather then seeing Hi Friend
or Hi Member.
Write as you talk
Write your follow-ups as if you were talking to a friend over a general conversation.
No one cares if you can use chauvinism or pretentious sentences. Write as if you know each other for long. Let them feel that
they can trust you. Be as friendly as possible you can.
Write as if you are writing to one person
Always remember your website sales letter, email message or follow up message
will be read by thousands of people every day but every person will read it once at a time. So make sure you write as if you
are writing to one person at a time. Focus on your prospects not on yourself. Use many "You" and "Yours" in your follow up
series.
Write short Sentences & Paragraphs
People are scared to read big blocks of words either they are too busy to read
your big email or they will feel huge load of information. So write your follow up message short & up to the point. Your
paragraphs should not be more than 4 to 5 lines. Use lot of white space in between to make your email message easy to read.
Provide a clickable link
Always provide your prospects a clickable link like http://www.yoursitename.com
for them to go straight to your website from the email message. And for AOL Users give them a AOL link like this http://www.yoursitename.com

Don't try to sell with your follow up messages
The main reason for your follow up message is try to educate your prospects,
give them something worth for free , make your credibility . Once if you make your credibility the prospects will definitely
buy from you. I am not saying don't advertise your products in the follow up message. You should advertise your offer but
don't make your follow up series just look like a complete sales pitch.
Use testimonials in your follow my message
Use testimonials in your follow up message to make prospects believe you .
Tell them what others are saying about your products / services and how much they are satisfied dealing with you. This will
make your prospects believe that they are dealing with a worthy guy not with another scam artist.
Provide a list of F.A.Q?
Some people hesitate to ask questions & some are just too busy to ask question
about your products. You are the one who wants to sell your products/services, so its your responsibility to provide your
prospects with a complete list of Answer to your Frequently Asked Questions. Try to tell them most of your product benefits
& clarification within your F.A.Q 's follow up message.
Removal Link
Last but very important is to provide your prospects with a link to remove
themselves from your list at any time. You don't want yourself to be accused of Spam.
